Our feelings are forms of internal communication that are first triggered in the brain. If you have ever read Dan Siegel’s (2015) book ‘The Whole-Brain Child’ you will find such a valuable resource and wealth of information about how our brains work and how they respond to feelings. We are all very different in how we respond to feelings that emerge. Some of our responses are normal to the circumstances we find ourselves in, some expressions of feeling are learned and some are survival instincts based on bigger feelings of fear or danger based on previous experiences.
